The real cost is rarely the day rate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In Sweden, employer social contributions are 31.42% on top of gross salary. So if you&#8217;ve agreed a gross monthly salary with someone, the actual cost to you is that figure <strong>plus 31.42%. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most companies know a number like that exists, but they haven&#8217;t done the maths yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-218907ddad5d726ee0921304f309f399\" id=\"h-2-most-companies-underestimate-the-setup-time\">2. Most companies underestimate the setup time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The admin involved in getting registered. Setting up a legal entity takes months in Sweden \u2014&nbsp;you need a board, a registered address, a bank account that Swedish banks will actually open for a foreign company, and then the tax registrations on top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies assume two or three weeks. It&#8217;s usually three to six months, minimum. <strong>If you have a project starting in September, you needed to start this process in March.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c645e628e62f8fbab9d9726851472d16\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1e6c7e2992b20511b071b93e40affe83\" id=\"h-3-the-first-delays-usually-starts-here\">3. The first delays usually starts here<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Unclear employment terms. A company has agreed a day rate with a contractor and assumes that\u2019s the contract. But Swedish employment law requires a written agreement covering notice periods, working hours, vacation entitlement, and sick pay \u2014 before the person starts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When that hasn\u2019t been prepared, the first week becomes a legal scramble. We see this regularly with companies that have onboarded people in other markets and assume the same process works here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b36de0a62eefa240cc9c82253fa32bf6\" id=\"h-4-misclassification-is-where-the-real-risk-begins\">4. Misclassification is where the real risk begins<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Misclassification is the big one. If someone is working exclusively for you, on your premises, using your equipment, for months at a time \u2014 Swedish authorities may classify them as an employee regardless of what the contract says. The tax liability that follows can be significant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies worry about getting this wrong, and they\u2019re right to. It\u2019s not a technicality; it\u2019s a real exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7e4ac651328708ea719ac0894fa30934\">.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2027046041778da3e7e5f165b7fbc3d9\"><strong>PART  3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-dark-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-eeaa649acc2c1b8a503041562891580f\" id=\"h-what-separates-a-smooth-setup-from-a-stressful-one\">What separates a smooth setup from a stressful one?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f4c0d2e3e65a957400b171e48097a827\" id=\"h-8-experience-matters-more-than-companies-think\">8. Experience matters more than companies think<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>That situations are always a little different<\/strong>, but the underlying questions \u2014 and often the solutions \u2014 are the same. Proven, time-tested approaches beat creative but uncertain ones every time. When you\u2019ve seen a situation fifty times, you know how it plays out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each jurisdiction is different, and having a local partner who is genuinely on top of current employment law is the key thing. Not someone who knows the rules from two years ago \u2014 someone tracking what\u2019s changed, what\u2019s being enforced, what the courts have said recently. The difference shows up when something unexpected happens<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Transparency about costs, speed, and what they actually cover. The difference shows up when something unexpected happens \u2014 a sick leave situation, injury, a notice period dispute, a collective agreement question or tax authority audit. A good partner has dealt with those situations before, picks up the phone and has people locally who know how to handle them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For me personally, it also comes down to whether the partnership feels sustainable. I\u2019m not interested in closing a deal and disappearing. I want to be the person clients and candidates come back to \u2014 for the next project, the next market, the next complex situation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b8f3ba4ff73f26b37c7951282474ec10\"><strong>PART 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-happens-when-the-right-setup-is-already-in-place\">What happens when the right setup is already in place?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b14addef213da811d363d438dce03d6f\" id=\"h-5-speed-is-what-surprises-companies-most\">5. Speed is what surprises companies most<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>How fast it can move when the structure is in place. Once we have what we need \u2014 the person\u2019s details, the agreed terms, the start date \u2014 we can have a contract ready <strong>the same day<\/strong> and someone onboarded shortly after. That surprises people who\u2019ve been told cross-border employment takes months. It does, if you\u2019re setting up your own entity. With an EOR, you\u2019re using infrastructure that already exists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What also surprises people is how the relationship develops. I genuinely enjoy building long-term partnerships \u2014 with clients and with candidates. You go through a project together, sometimes across different countries, solving complex setups. You\u2019re on the same rollercoaster. And when it works, when the project lands, you celebrate it together. That\u2019s what keeps this work interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f45a9f3f2f34521f3d029ccda83bfb9c\" id=\"h-6-what-companies-no-longer-need-to-handle-themselves\">6. What companies no longer need to handle themselves<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You tell us what you need. We set up the employment. The person starts. You receive one invoice each month covering salary, contributions, and our fee. You don\u2019t open a bank account in Sweden. You don\u2019t register with Skatteverket. You don\u2019t handle sick pay calculations or vacation payments. That\u2019s all on us, because we\u2019re the legal employer. You manage the work. We manage the employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it\u2019s worth saying \u2014 EOR isn\u2019t only for companies testing a new market. It makes just as much sense on project-based work where a direct hire simply isn\u2019t optimal for anyone. The project has a timeline. The skills are specific. The fastest projects are usually the clearest ones<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Having the employment terms agreed before we start. The companies that move fastest come to us with a clear brief: this is the person, this is the role, this is the rate, this is the start date.
